How to Care for Your Saree
Welcome to theΒ Entimessi Saree Care Manual. Our sarees are crafted with love and care, often involving intricate manual processes and natural dyes. To ensure your saree maintains its beautiful sheen, vibrant colors, and delicate fabric for years to come, please follow these official care and handling instructions.
β¦ The Golden Rule of Saree Care
We highly recommend that you dry wash all sarees to maintain the fabric sheen and avoid any fading or color bleed.
Never machine-wash a saree. A saree should always be either delicately hand-washed or dry-cleaned.
Note: Hand block printed fabrics, hand-dyed fabrics, linen, and silk fabrics must be Dry Cleaned Only.
β¦ Step-by-Step Hand Wash Guide
If you choose to gently hand-wash non-silk/non-dyed sarees at home, please follow these strict guidelines:
1. The Patch Test
Before washing, test a very small corner of the saree for color running. You must do this independently for all the different colors present on the saree.
2. Sorting
Always sort your clothes color-wise. Wash only similar-colored garments together to prevent accidental color transfer.
3. Soaking
Put a small quantity of mild detergent in a half-filled bucket of cold water. Dip the saree in the water a couple of times.
- Do not soak for more than 2 minutes.
- Pre-soaked garments must be washed immediately.
- DO NOT wring the saree.
4. Rinsing
Gently rub soiled areas by hand. Do not use a solid bar of soap or a brush under any circumstances. Rinse the garment a few times in cold water to remove the detergent completely.
- DO NOT wring the saree.
5. Starching (Optional)
For a crisp finish, give the saree a final dip in a diluted solution of liquid starch.
- DO NOT wring the saree.
6. Drying
Drying your clothes under direct sunlight causes color fading. Always line dry your sarees outdoors in the evening or in a shaded area.
7. Ironing
Never iron directly on block-prints, embroidery, or other embellishments. Clothes with these details should be turned inside out and ironed lightly.
β¦ Special Care & Storage
Fragrances & Perfumes
Be very careful when applying fragrances to handmade clothes. Perfume ingredients may cause the prints to remove or stain the fabric.
Pro Tip: Spray the fragrance lightly into the air in front of you, and then walk directly into the spritz.
Storage Instructions
- Store garments in a cool, dry place protected from direct sunlight.
- Keep whites and light-colored garments stored away from darker-colored ones.
- Use aromatic sachets to dispel cupboard odors and keep your sarees smelling fresh.
Silk & Silk Blends
Silk and silk-blend fabrics must be Dry Cleaned Only. Store them carefully in breathable cloth covers along with a few scented sachets.
β¦ Product & Printing Disclaimer: Understanding Your Handcrafted Saree
At Entimessi, we celebrate the human touch. Because our products are made and handled by human hands, slight variations are completely normal and are the hallmark of handcrafted beauty.
- Color Variations: The colors you see on the Entimessi website depend on your monitor's accuracy, computer/mobile display settings, or studio lighting. While we strive to match the pictures as closely as possible to the physical product, subtle variations must be acknowledged.
- Print Placements & Irregularities: We use an "all-over print" design for most of our products, meaning the exact positioning of the artwork may differ slightly from the display picture. Sarees featuring Hand block prints, Bandhni, Lahariya, Tie & Dye, and Batik are handmade. Slight irregularities in prints, motifs, and colors may occur from piece to piece. These are manual processes and cannot be deemed as defects.
- Color Binding & Bleed: Hand-dyed and hand block printed fabrics use natural dyes. Because these colors are not fast and we do not use artificial color binding agents, the fabric may rub dry, leave marks, or bleed color when coming into contact with water for the first time. Once again, Dry Clean Only is strictly required for these items.
Preserve the elegance of your wardrobe. Thank you for choosing Entimessi!
